We´ve had a busy few days since arriving back inRio last Friday- luckily the appartment we had booked for the 10 nights we are here for was all ok and not an internet scam-woohoo! Its a very sweet little appartment just off Copacabana Beach with lots of juice bars nearby which we LOVE, and of course the beach is pretty close- a very good thing.
On Saturday we took a trip to Pao de Acucar -SugarLoaf Mountain. We were very lucky- it was a beautiful clear day and the views across Rio were absolutley amazing. Saturday night we met up with the lovely Chris Felton and had a few too many Cosmopolitan´s and a deadly Caipirinha which is the national drink here- a high proof sugarcane alcohol, crushed lime and ice- it certainly made the next day a whole lot worse :-( Was so fun to see Chris- a very good night!
Something that you cannot ignore in Rio is that its CARNAVAL!! There are parties on every street corner, drumming going down the streets, dancing and a lot of very drunk Brazillians stumbling around in fancy dress! The atmostphere is amazing- such a good time to be here. We went to the Sambadromo last night to watch the samba schools parade- it started at 9pm and we were still there at 4am watching the 5th samba school go by- the floats and the costume´s were crazy- so colourful and huge!! The samba dancing girls in their tiny sequinned g-string´s are a sight you´ll never forget!
We still have a week left in Rio and so much to do and see-such a great city... I don´t want to leave!!
